Research activities

The Department of Sanitary and Ecological Engineering (DSEE) takes part in projects granted by the European Union, the government of the Czech Republic, the Czech Science Foundation - Grant Agency of the Czech Republic (GACR), the Ministry of Education and Internal Grant Agency of CTU.

At present DSEE cooperates with 6 foreign scientific institutes on 5th Framework Programme of the European Community for Research and Technological Development named "Assessing Infiltration and Exfiltration on the Performance of Urban Sewer Systems" (APUSS). Within the programme CityNET DSEE participates at the project "Computer Aided Rehabilitation of Sewer network" (CARE-S) assessing sewer system disturbances and their rehabilitation with the help of computer simulations. DSEE takes part also in the 6th Framework Programme of the European Community for Research and Technological Development in the project "Integrated Flood Risk Analysis and Management Methodologies" (FLOODSite), which covers physical, environmental, ecological and socio-economic aspects of floods from rivers, estuaries and the sea.

DSEE is also involved in various applied research projects focusing on mathematical modelling of sewer systems, detailed numerical modelling of hydraulic structures, conduit flow, biological monitoring etc.
